ROTARY Club of St. Catharines Service Above Self  AWARD

The Rotary Club of St. Catharines Lakeshore is proud to support graduating students from our three locally sponsored high schools:

  • Governor Simcoe Secondary School
  • Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School
  • St. Francis Catholic Secondary School

Our former Rotary Medalist Awards program has evolved into the Rotary Service Above Self Scholarship, allowing our club to provide more meaningful financial support to students as they take their next steps after high school.

Each year, one graduating student from each of our three schools receives a $2,000 scholarship — a total annual investment of $6,000 in local youth.

Recipients are selected based on qualities that reflect the values of Rotary, including service, leadership and making a positive difference in their school or community.

We are proud of our longstanding relationships with these three schools and look forward to continuing to celebrate exceptional young people and their commitment to Service Above Self.

 
DISTRICT SCHOLARSHIPS
 
Rotary District 7090 Foundation Scholarship Committee offers THREE - $1,200.00 USD Awards for graduating high school students  as follows:
 
The applicant must be in their final year of high school education, with a commitment to enrol in post-secondary education. The scholarship is open to any area of study and must be used towards full time Canada post-secondary/U.S. post high school study at a university, college, or community college, anywhere in the world. The applicant’s permanent address must be within the boundaries of District 7090, (which includes Rotary Clubs in Ontario, Canada and New York, USA).
 
Scholarship Criteria
 
The scholarship is based on the following criteria:
 
  1. Academic merit: high school transcripts.
  2. A resume of community service and/or volunteer activities completed, plus a 100 word paragraph about the impact these experiences have had on you.
  3. An essay of 750 words describing: why you chose your career/education path, and what community service/volunteer activities in which you plan to participate.
  4. Optional: letter of reference from any community member.

The scholarship will be awarded the end of June
