Christmas 2017
Well we're here at Dani's Bistro, and they're doing an
awesome job
And I've written another Christmas poem, At the request of Randi & Bob.
Our 80 years young President Kent, Is halfway through his year.
He's really doing very well, Perhaps we should buy him a beer.
We've just been hit with lots of snow,
The first time for the Season.
If members are thinking of heading south,
Then that should give them a reason.
Our neighbours down south have just completed,
A year with President Trump.
Most will be getting a piece of coal, I believe they call it a lump.
By this time next year we'll have some thoughts,
On goals that Trump has reached. Or whether the stupid things he tweets, will just get him impeached.
In Canada though it seems to me,
We are a much different lot. It's hockey, beer and football time, And soon even legalized pot.
We didn't have a Lobsterfest, but we hope that it may be back, so Marc and I as fundraising chairs,
We'd better pick up the slack.
We have new things on the horizon, From Committees and the Board. For finding ways to raise more funds.
In ways we can afford.
Amidst all this we do our best, in Rotary and in Life.
To help our fellow human beings, in Trouble or strife.
We lost some members this past year, And to that we are not immune. Jim and Jon were two of our best,
And both were gone too soon.
We miss Jim's help and his smiling face, And his stories that were deluxe.
We miss jon's suggestions, his different style and his constant Asplin bucks.
At Christmas time we should give thanks, as the weather starts to get colder.
And our friends in Rotary Gathered here,
All are another year older.
So Merry Christmas one and all,
As we draw the Season Cheer.
And lets us hope that 2018, will be a fantastic Year.
